Main
Building Evacuation Procedures
| 1. |
When
the alarm sounds, ALL patrons must immediately leave the building
in an orderly fashion following the directional signs in the hallways.
Instructors are to take class registers with them.
|
| 2. |
Floor Wardens
are to ensure that all patrons leave as directed and that doors are
closed. Patrons failing to leave will be reported.
|
| 3. |
Regardless
of the ringing pattern of the alarm, evacuation must run to completion.
Under no circumstances are patrons to change direction in stairwells
or re-enter the building when the alarm stops ringing.
|
| 4. |
Elevators
are not to be used during an evacuation.
|
| 5. |
Occupants
are to exit the building by following the evacuation route signs in
the hallways.
|
| 6. |
Should designated
exits be endangered, patrons are to proceed to the alternate exit
without waiting for further direction.
|
| 7. |
During emergencies
all instructions from designated Floor Wardens must be followed. Failure
to follow the Floor Warden's instructions can result in disciplinary
action.
|
| 8. |
After leaving
the building, all patrons must move away from the building. Patrons
using the north stairways should proceed to the far end of the parking
lot. Patrons using the south stairways should proceed to the public
sidewalk beyond the retaining wall.
|
| 9. |
Everyone
must remain outside the building until the Door Warden signals for
them to return.
|
| 10. |
Those who
are physically unable to proceed down the stairs are to remain with
the Floor Warden in the northeast corner of the hallway beside the
Fire Phone. The Floor Warden will use the Fire Phone to indicate the
number of physically challenged individuals and to identify any emergency
situation.
|
| 11. |
Procedures
and evacuation routes are posted in each hallway for individuals
to familiarize themselves. |
Main Building Fire Alarm Procedures for Physically Challenged Persons
| 1. |
At the sound
of the fire alarm, assume that an emergency situation exists.
|
| 2. |
Proceed immediately
to the northeast corner of the building beside the fire phone and
wait for further communication from the Floor Warden who will then
inform the persons whether it is an emergency or if it is part of
a scheduled drill.
|
| 3. |
In the event
of a drill, the Floor Warden will continue to remain with the physically
challenged persons in the northeast corner of the hallway and await
the ALL CLEAR from the Chief Fire Warden or the Assistant Deputy Chief
Fire Warden.
|
| 4. |
If an
emergency exists, the Floor Warden will move all persons into the
stairwell and wait for the firemen who will be directed to the stairwells
to provide assistance in the evacuation. |

East
Court Building
| 1. |
When the
alarm sounds, ALL patrons must immediately leave the building in an
orderly fashion through the nearest exit. Instructors are to take
class registers/attendance with them.

| 2. |
Floor Wardens
are to ensure that all patrons leave as directed and that doors are
closed. Patrons failing to leave will be reported.
|
| 3. |
Regardless
of the ringing pattern of the alarm, evacuation must run to completion.
Under no circumstances are patrons to change direction in stairwells
or re-enter the building when the alarm stops ringing.
|
| 4. |
The Elevator
is not to be used during an evacuation.
|
| 5. |
Occupants
are to vacate the building through the closest exit.
|
| 6. |
Should designated
exits be endangered, patrons are to proceed to the alternate exit
without waiting for further direction.
|
| 7. |
During emergencies
all instructions from designated Floor Wardens must be followed. Failure
to follow the Floor Warden's instructions can result in disciplinary
action.
|
| 8. |
After leaving
the building, all patrons must move away from the building. Patrons
using the north exit should proceed to the gravel parking lot (Lot
C). Patrons using the south exit should proceed next door to the south
end of the Main Campus. If using the East exits, proceed to East sidewalk,
do not block exits.

| 9. |
Everyone
must remain outside the building until the Door Warden signals for
them to return.
|
| 10. |
Procedures
are posted in each classroom/lab and lounge areas for individuals
to familiarize themselves. |


Westmount
Campus
| 1. |
When the
alarm sounds, all persons must immediately leave the building in accordance
with the directional signs in the area. Books and supplies are to
be left in classrooms. Instructors should take their class registers
with them.

| 2. |
Regardless
of the ringing pattern of the alarm, evacuation must be run to completion.
Under no circumstances are occupants to change direction in stairwells
or to re-enter the building when the alarm stops ringing.
|
| 3. |
Staff members
are to ensure that all students leave their rooms as directed and
that all doors in their immediate vicinity are closed. Students failing
to leave as directed are to be reported to the President.
|
| 4. |
During emergencies
all instructions from designated Fire Wardens must be followed. Failure
to obey a Fire Wardens instruction can result in later disciplinary
action.
|
| 5. |
When leaving
the building, everyone must move a good distance away. People using
the stairways should proceed to
|
| 6. |
All occupants
must remain outside the building until the Fire Wardens signal for
them to return to the building.
|
| 7. |
The eldery
and handicapped who are unable to proceed down the stairs and are
to remain with the Fire Wardens. |


WDC
and all Other Campuses and Learning Sites
| 1. |
When an alarm
sounds, assume there is some type of emergency.
|
| 2. |
Upon hearing
the alarm, move directly to the nearest fire exit as indicated by
the arrow signs posted in the hallways.
|
| 3. |
If the alarm
should stop, continue the evacuation of the building.
|
| 4. |
Move quickly,
but calmly through the hallway. Do not stop to collect coats or other
belongings.
|
| 5. |
Once you
have left the building, move as far away from the building as possible.
This is to provide the Fire Department access to any area of the building
and to keep everyone safe.
|
| 6. |
No one may
re-enter the building until the ALL CLEAR is signaled by the Door
Wardens.
|
| 7. |
Procedures
and evacuation routes are posted in each hallway for individuals
to familiarize themselves. |

False
Alarms
|
| 1. |
Since all alarms are treated as
real, the intentional sounding of a false alarm is a very serious
offense. Any individual identified as having pulled an alarm without
cause, will face possible termination from the program and the pressing
of criminal charges.
|
| 2. |
Anyone having information related
to a false alarm should contact Facility Operations located in Room
125. |
